Large-scale air attack on Kyiv: Heavy damage to residential buildings
This morning (June 2, 2026), Kyiv experienced a combined and intensive air attack, which included ballistic missile fire and the use of dozens of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). According to the Реальна Війна | Україна | Новини Telegram channel, which is identified with a clear pro-Ukrainian stance condemning Russian aggression, the city sustained direct hits in several locations.
Reports from the Реальна Війна channel point to severe hits on 9, 15, and 24-story residential buildings on the city's right bank. As a result of the attacks, widespread fires broke out in the courtyards and inside the buildings. The channel reports that "there are people trapped under the rubble" and that as of the latest update, at least 11 civilians are known to have been injured.
The attack was characterized by successive waves of fire. According to Реальна Війна, residents of the capital were warned of "another wave of massive attack" just minutes after the event began. Eyewitnesses reported thick smoke covering the city sky, as described on the channel as a "black cloud" that covered the capital in place of the sunrise.
The ЗСУ ДВІЖ channel, which promotes a narrative of support for the Ukrainian security forces, also confirmed the extent of the destruction and the direct hits on residential structures. Local authorities ordered residents to remain in shelters until further notice, while rescue forces continue search and rescue and firefighting operations under ongoing fire and danger.
