Extensive UAV attack on Ukraine

On June 2, 2026, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (Повітряні Сили ЗС України) reported an intensive wave of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) that penetrated Ukraine's airspace from several directions. The Air Force's operational command, the authorized body for reporting aerial threats in the country, recorded movements of aircraft from the Kursk region in Russia, from the north of Chernihiv, and from other areas.

Focused attacks on the capital and major cities

Kyiv was the focus of the campaign, as the Ukrainian Air Force warned of UAVs arriving from the north, including the specific identification of a "jet-powered UAV over Kyiv from the north". The Kyiv Regional Military Administration also confirmed the reports of movement toward the capital, in close coordination with air defense forces.

At the same time, similar reports of UAV incursions arrived from other regions. The Air Force tracked aircraft on their way to Kharkiv, Netishyn, and Zaporizhzhia. In Ternopil, the "єРадар" alert channel updated on UAV movement in the Zbarazh area, while Air Force forces tracked flight paths in the Cherkasy and Nikopol regions.

Nature of the campaign

The reports highlight a complex aerial campaign using several waves of attacks simultaneously. Ukrainian military sources, which maintain an information policy focused on airspace defense and deterrence, continue to provide real-time updates on every detection of a hostile aircraft in order to allow civilians to take shelter and defense forces to respond accordingly.
