[78941] Russia copies the famous Ukrainian brand 'The Drunken Cherry' and sets up an imitation in Kazan
Blatant copying of a Ukrainian brand in Russia
Numerous reports on social networks indicate that Russia has copied the well-known Ukrainian brand from Lviv, "The Drunken Cherry" (П’яна вишня). In the city of Kazan, an establishment named "Horse and Cherry" (Конь и вишня) has opened, which, according to the Реальна Війна | Україна | Новини channel, uses an almost identical logo and the same way of serving alcoholic beverages in glasses similar to the Ukrainian original.
ערוץ Львівич | Новини noted that the move is not surprising, and added that this is a method of cultural and brand theft. This claim was reinforced by the ערוץ Україна Online: Новини | Політика channel, which wrote angrily: "They steal everything." The channel 24 Канал | Новини України, with a distinct Ukrainian nationalist stance, argued that "Russians are again demonstrating their 'tradition' – to take over the property of others."
ערוץ UA Stream elaborated that the new place in Russia not only copied the logo featuring a woman with cherries in an identical pose, but also adopted the business concept in full. According to the report, the owners of the place in Russia dismissed the Ukrainian criticism and claimed it was merely a coincidence.
The affair sparked echoes among other patriotic channels such as Батальйон «Монако» | Україна | Новини and Ху Київ | Україנה, which emphasized that this is a recurring pattern of appropriating successful Ukrainian brands without permission.
