Termination of the 'Fuel Cashback' program in Ukraine
The government of Ukraine has officially announced the end of the 'Fuel Cashback' program on May 31, 2026. According to Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, the program, which began on March 20, served as a "temporary anti-crisis tool" intended to assist citizens during a global oil crisis unprecedented in the last 50 years.
According to reports from 24 Канал | Новини України, the program allowed drivers to receive cash refunds of between 5% and 15% of fuel costs, depending on the type. Official data published by channels such as Батальйон «Монако» and DW Україна indicate that 2.3 million citizens utilized the initiative, with approximately 91% of users owning "economy" class vehicles with small engines.
Despite the end of new grants, the government clarified that funds already accrued in the program are available for use. As noted in Всевидящее ОКО, citizens are permitted to use the balance for "paying utility bills, purchasing medicines, books, and products of Ukrainian manufacture, or donating to the needs of the army (the Armed Forces of Ukraine)."
The reports noted a certain level of alertness among users, as channels such as Ху Київ emphasized the social importance of the initiative. It should be noted that the news sources reviewed, including ТСН and Фокус, maintained a consistent line supporting the current administration's efforts in Ukraine, without significant disputes regarding the effectiveness of the program.
