Tonight, between May 30 and 31, 2026, residents of Ukraine will have the opportunity to observe an extraordinary astronomical phenomenon: a combination of a "Blue Moon" and a "Micro-moon". According to Київ Головне, this is an extremely rare event that will not repeat itself until the year 2053.

Details of the phenomenon

Despite its name, the moon will not appear blue, but will appear as a full moon at the furthest point of its orbit around the Earth, which makes it look smaller than usual – a phenomenon known as a "Micro-moon".
