Hard details are being revealed today regarding the fate of Alexander Krokhmalyuk, a military medic and commander of the medical service of the 'Azov' unit. According to Sviatoslav Palamar, deputy commander of the 12th Special Forces Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine, Krokhmalyuk, who was taken prisoner after the withdrawal from Azovstal, underwent a series of abuses at the Olenivka and Taganrog camps.
According to the Sternenko channel and Censor.NET, which are associated with a distinctly pro-Ukrainian line, Krokhmalyuk's body was returned to Ukraine in September 2025 as part of a body exchange. A pathological examination conducted in Lebanon officially confirmed that the cause of death was "fractures of the ribs and blunt trauma to the chest," tangible evidence of the torture he endured at the SIZO-2 detention facility in Kamyshin.
Similar reports were published in TSN.ua and Focus, which highlight Krokhmalyuk's figure as one who "dedicated his life to saving lives." Palamar noted that Krokhmalyuk joined Azov in 2016 and was an esteemed figure among his brothers-in-arms.
