Starting today, alarm systems across Ukraine will be activated daily at 09:00 to observe a national moment of silence in memory of those who died in the war.
Starting today, May 22, 2026, Ukraine is implementing a new procedure for a national moment of silence to be held daily at 09:00 AM. According to Труха⚡️Україна, a media outlet identified with clearly pro-Ukrainian positions, the country's alarm systems will henceforth be used to announce a moment of reflection in memory of the fallen.
This initiative is receiving widespread resonance on social media and in Ukrainian media outlets. The Kyiv Regional Administration defines the ceremony as a "daily ritual of gratitude, respect, and remembrance," while the Victory Drones channel noted that the minute is intended to honor the "heroism and sacrifice of the fallen soldiers" as well as the civilians killed as a result of Russian aggression.
Reports from the Armed Forces of Ukraine Telegram channel (Оперативний ЗСУ) add that the system will be used not only in memory of the current war's casualties but also as part of other national events, such as the Holodomor Remembrance Days. Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko was quoted as confirming the use of alarm systems for "announcements commemorating the memory of the victims."
