[67998] Dramatic change in border procedures: female civil servants can now leave Ukraine
The Ukrainian government has removed all restrictions on the departure of women employed in the public sector abroad, in accordance with a government decision that came into effect on May 20.
Removal of travel restrictions for women employed in the public sector
Starting from May 20, 2026, new regulations came into effect, lifting the ban on the departure of women employed in the public sector from Ukraine. As reported by the SBGS (State Border Guard Service of Ukraine), the changes to point 2-14 of the border crossing regulations (according to Government Decision No. 623 of May 15) allow all women employed in state institutions, local authorities, state-owned enterprises, and courts to cross the border without professional restrictions.
Details of the decision
Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko stated that the step is intended to regulate labor movement while maintaining functional continuity. Channels such as Труха⚡️Україна and Реальна Війна highlighted that the new policy applies to all women "without exception," regardless of their position rank. However, 24 Канал noted that restrictions on the highest-ranking officials in the country remain in place to ensure the continued work of the government.

The reports come from a wide range of channels, including Цензор.НЕТ and ТСН новини, which indicate that the border guard has already begun to actively implement these guidelines at crossing points. Meanwhile, channels such as Бізнес Цензор published separate updates on changes to international bus transport procedures, indicating a broader reform in the management of state crossings.
Alongside the easing of border procedures, reports have appeared in local media, such as Інформатор Київ, regarding plans to increase transport fares in the capital, Kyiv, indicating the continued economic tension in the country during the war.
