The Ukrainian Meteorological Service reports that starting May 20th, a significant heatwave is expected in the country, with temperatures forecasted to reach up to 30 degrees Celsius, according to the Times of Ukraine channel. The channel, which is identified with a clear pro-Ukrainian stance, emphasizes that the second half of next week will be the hottest.
For today, May 16th, the picture is more complex. According to Новини.LIVE, while most parts of the country are enjoying partly cloudy weather with temperatures ranging between 20 and 22 degrees, regions in Western Ukraine are expected to suffer from atmospheric instability that will manifest as rain and thunderstorms. Суспільне Львів adds that rain and possibly hail are expected in the Lviv region, with daytime temperatures of 18-23 degrees.
At the same time, the UA Stream channel reports a process of 'transition to a summer atmosphere,' but warns that cyclones arriving from the southern sea are expected to intermittently bring rain, thunderstorms, and strong gusts of wind to various regions. By the weekend, temperatures are expected to climb to 24-25 degrees in certain spots throughout the country.
In the capital, Kyiv, reports are more optimistic. Київ Головне notes that today is expected to be sunny throughout the day with comfortable temperatures between 14 and 23 degrees. In the east of the country, and particularly in Kharkiv, the KharkivOne channel predicts partly cloudy weather without precipitation, and adds with folk humor that 'a lot of dew this morning indicates a good cucumber harvest'.
