Tribute to Medical Teams in Ukraine on International Nurses Day

As part of International Nurses Day celebrated today, May 12, 2026, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky issued an emotional message of gratitude to the medical teams working throughout the country. The President emphasized that the work of nurses in civilian hospitals and frontline medical posts "relies not only on professionalism but also on a great heart, resilience, and humanity" as noted on Zelensky's official channel.

According to Zelensky, whose words were also echoed by local media outlets such as Novyny.LIVE, the medical system is dealing with heavy loads, grueling shifts, and sleepless nights, while the teams continue to provide life-saving care to soldiers in the field and civilians in rear hospitals. The message was also bolstered by the Kyiv Regional Military Administration and the UNITED24 organization.

Simultaneously, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on ongoing efforts to upgrade military medicine and adopt it to international standards. As part of this, military medical teams recently completed a training round at the Haukeland University Hospital in Bergen, Norway.

The training in Norway focused on combat trauma care, organizing medical services under high pressure, and improving English language proficiency at professional levels (from A1 to B1), a step intended to increase interoperability with Ukraine's allies in the international arena according to a report by the General Staff.
