[56616] Extensive UAV attack on Kyiv and the surrounding area: Air defense systems are active

Large-scale night of attacks in Kyiv

During the night of May 12, 2026, Kyiv and surrounding areas were attacked by a significant wave of "Shahed"-type UAVs. According to the Telegram channel Реальний Київ | Украина, residents reported a series of explosions heard in different areas of the city, including Obolon, Podil, and Troieshchyna. The channel provided ongoing updates that "air defense systems are active" against the hostile targets.

The Monitor channel noted that at least two UAVs were identified in the DVRZ area and three more were moving in the direction of Horenka and Bucha. Simultaneously, the Труха⚡️Київ channel, known for rapid updates on alerts, reported UAVs on their way to Boryspil, Vasylkiv, and other areas in the district, emphasizing that this was a multi-directional attack.

Local authorities and official bodies, including the KMDA channel, instructed residents to "remain in shelters" due to the real threat of airstrikes. The Київ Головне channel clarified the severity of the situation to residents with the call to "stay away from windows" while the sounds of explosions were heard across the city as a result of air defense activity.

The attack did not spare other regions, as the Труха⚡️Дніпро | Новини channel also reported explosions and the identification of UAVs over the city of Dnipro. Around 04:00, reports began to be published regarding the end of the wave of attacks, with the Київ ІНФО channel announcing the "cancellation of the alert" in the capital, after a tense night that included exchanges of fire and extensive interception attempts.
