Large-scale drone attack on central and western Ukraine

During the night of May 12, 2026, Ukraine experienced a widespread wave of attacks using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). According to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a "large number of hostile drones" was detected in the center and north of the country, moving along paths toward Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, and other regions.

Local Telegram channels, such as Київ ІНФО, reported live on dozens of drones entering the airspace of the Kyiv region via varying routes, including toward Brovary, Boryspil, Bucha, and residential areas within the capital city itself, such as Obolon and Bykivnia. Реальний Київ confirmed during the event that air defense systems (PPO) were operating at full capacity to intercept the targets.

According to an analysis by Труха⚡️Київ, the attack included about 30 drones that entered Kyiv from the Chernihiv region. At the same time, sources in Реальный Днепр reported targeted strikes toward the Dnipro and Kryvyi Rih area, where intense explosions were heard.

Despite the heavy load of tracking data, the Ukrainian Air Force provided updates throughout the night on the attack routes, noting launches originating also from the Kursk region in Russia. Toward the morning hours, the channel Реальний Київ reported an "all-clear" in the city of Kyiv, marking the subsiding of the current wave of attacks in the capital region.
