The Snisarenko Affair: Suspicion of seizing strategic assets in Kyiv
Media outlets in Ukraine report a growing public and legal uproar surrounding members of the Snisarenko family. According to the channel Україна Online: Новини | Політика, which deals with internal Ukrainian news and politics, these are Russian natives who acquired factory assets in Kyiv for "a pittance."
The suspicions against the family are grave and include financing the aggressor state through rental income from properties or the "intentional destruction of assets." According to Ukraine Online, to conceal their activities, those involved used a fictitious owner – a resident of Luhansk currently serving in the ranks of the Russian National Guard (Rosgvardiya) – and even registered assets under the name of a fitness trainer and mother of many children.
The affair has also received widespread attention among legal Telegram channels. The channel Юрист пише…, which analyzes legal issues, confirms the details and emphasizes that despite the existence of open criminal cases and the public outcry, the family members are now attempting to take control of a strategic energy substation in Kyiv.
As of now, the issue is at the center of public attention in Ukraine, with authorities facing calls for an in-depth investigation into the business activities of the family members, who are alleged to be continuing to act against the national interests of Ukraine in the midst of the war.
