Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov, is expected to fly to Miami this week for a meeting with the US President's special envoy, Steve Witkoff. According to a report by Bloomberg, the parties plan to discuss ways to advance negotiations to end the war, following previous reports indicating that the talks had reached a "stalemate."

Reports published on LIGA.net and Focus noted that the main point of contention remains Kyiv's refusal to cede territory, while the Kremlin insists on a Ukrainian withdrawal from the Donetsk region. Sources close to the talks, as quoted in REITERS 🇺🇦, added that a lack of clarity regarding security guarantees for Ukraine is another obstacle to progress.

The visit has drawn criticism from channels identified with the internal opposition. The Березовый сок channel, known for its sharp criticism of the Ukrainian leadership, claimed that the trip was intended to divert public attention from internal corruption scandals and personal affairs involving Umerov.
