Extensive air attack in Ukraine

During the night of May 5, 2026, Ukraine experienced a wave of unmanned aerial vehicle (drone) attacks. According to reports from the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, groups of drones were identified entering from the Black Sea toward Odesa Oblast, simultaneously with aerial activity in the center of Chernihiv Oblast and movement to the west.

The local channel Одесса INFO reported an explosion in the city of Odesa caused by a "jet drone" (реактивний БпЛА), and in the hours that followed, reconnaissance activity was carried out to ensure the area was clear of further threats. The channel, which is identified with operational reports from the field, updated that defense forces tracked several waves of drones moving toward Ovidiopol and Chornomorsk, as well as toward the Sanzhiyka area.

The Telegram channel єРадар, which specializes in air raid alerts, noted that about 5 groups of drones arrived from the sea toward Odesa, and simultaneously reported the launch of two additional drones toward the Konotop and Dubovyazivka area in Sumy Oblast.

Towards the morning hours, local channels such as Мій Київ reported that the skies in most of the attacked regions were defined as "clear" (чисто), with the conclusion of reconnaissance operations. There were no reports of casualties in the immediate summary of the reports, but the event reflects the continuity of the air campaign that Russia is conducting against Ukrainian infrastructure.
