[50484] Extensive missile attacks in major cities in Ukraine: Hits in Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia
Extensive missile attacks in Ukraine
Over the past day, a series of missile attacks by the Russian army was reported in the cities of Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Cherkasy. In Kharkiv, which sustained direct hits, Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported on Оперативний ЗСУ (a channel identified with overt support for the Ukrainian army) that two rockets struck the Osnovianskyi district. One of the hits occurred in an open area, causing damage to the roof and windows of a multi-story residential building, while a second hit was identified near a warehouse facility, where damage was caused to facilities and nearby vehicles.
According to reports on СУСПІЛЬНЕ НОВИНИ, there were no casualties in the incidents in Kharkiv. The channel notes that city authorities are working to assess the damage at the site. КЛОЧОК added that the attack was carried out by "rockets of the Russian Federation," using terminology that emphasizes the responsibility of the attacking side.
At the same time, 24 Канал | Новини України (a channel with an editorial line that sharply criticizes Russia) reported on alerts and explosions that were also heard in Zaporizhzhia and Cherkasy. Regarding Zaporizhzhia, it was noted that following a ballistic attack, a fire broke out in a non-residential building. According to regional military administration (OVA) sources, as reported on 24 Канал, the incident ended without casualties, although the ballistic threat in the area remained high throughout the morning hours.
The reports from all the Ukrainian channels involved emphasize the fact that these were attacks against civilian infrastructure, while repeatedly highlighting the lack of casualties among the civilian population in the two main locations.
