The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense announces a move to enforce conscription in gyms
The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has announced its intention to carry out raids on fitness clubs across the country with the goal of checking the status of draft-age men using "armored" (exempt from service) status. According to reports in Реальний Київ | Украина, the move is intended to establish order among men who continue to train in clubs during the war.
Yuriy Gudymenko, head of the Anti-Corruption Council under the Ministry of Defense, stated that the goal is to send those who received exemptions illegally to the front. This statement appeared simultaneously in Батальйон «Монако» | Україна | Новини and Диванно-штурмовая бригада 🍉➔, where it was emphasized that the operation is planned as part of a broader move to audit the conduct of recruitment offices.
In addition to measures against draft dodgers, the ministry announced an intention to conduct a comprehensive audit of the conduct of the TCC (regional recruitment offices), following complaints about abuse of authority. Channels such as Times of Ukraine: Новини | Україна and Київ | Times reported that "it will be necessary to establish order in fitness clubs where men with exemptions are sitting", emphasizing that addressing the recruitment institutions themselves is an equally urgent task.
The reports, which also appeared in Киевский Движ and Кореспондент Одеси, point to a tense public atmosphere surrounding the enforcement of conscription and the corruption attributed to military registration systems in Ukraine. All reporting channels are identified with local news coverage on Telegram channels in Ukraine, which maintain a critical line toward state institutions while reporting on government measures.
