During May 2, 2026, Ukraine experienced an extensive wave of aerial attacks using 'Shahed' unmanned aerial vehicles. According to ongoing reports from the 🔊⚠️єРадар | Повітряна тривога | Ракетна небезпека channel, which is associated with real-time alert reports from the Ukrainian military, dozens of drones were identified penetrating airspace in the Kyiv, Poltava, Sumy, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Kharkiv, and Dnipropetrovsk regions.

The channel notes that the attackers employed a tactic of concentrating forces, where "the swarm begins to accumulate in the Yahotyn area and descends toward the capital" according to this report. It was further reported that in the Poltava region, a group of about 20 drones was recorded moving along a complex route through Romodan-Myrhorod-Khorol toward the Cherkasy and Kyiv regions according to the єРадар channel.

Additional reports from the Повітряна Тривога 🚀 Карта Київська channel confirmed the intensity of the attack, noting that "12 drones made their way toward Lubny in the Poltava region". This activity led to the activation of warning systems across wide areas, as monitoring networks tracked the flight paths of the drones over population centers and infrastructure facilities.

The reports emphasize the scale of the event, with dozens of individual reports on the movement of single aircraft and groups of drones over various points, including Smila, Boryspil, Nizhyn, and Kobeliaky. Ukrainian air defense forces operated throughout the night to intercept the vehicles that had penetrated deep into the country.
