[95950] Breakthrough in talks with Iran: Vice President Vance reports on nuclear and regional agreements
Diplomatic progress in talks between the US and Iran
United States Vice President J.D. Vance reported on June 22, 2026, on a significant breakthrough in talks with Iran, following 36 hours of intensive discussions. According to reports by Borsa Hisse Haber, Vance stated that the American administration has managed to formulate mechanisms that will ensure the openness of the Strait of Hormuz and guarantee a regional ceasefire.
Return of nuclear agency inspectors
One of the central points in the reports, shared by gdh and Askeri Operasyon Haberleri, is the Iranians' agreement to allow the return of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors to the country. However, gdh emphasized that although this is an important development, the critical question that remains open is the scope and nature of the oversight that the inspectors will actually be able to conduct.
Principles of the negotiation
According to TRT Haber, Vance noted that a "good foundation" has been laid for a final agreement and that a mechanism for preventing conflicts in the region has been established. At the same time, as published in gdh, the United States is working to establish a financial mechanism that will ensure that frozen funds designated for humanitarian aid will not be diverted to fund terrorist activities.
In a series of reports by İhlas Haber Ajansı, Vance clarified that despite threats from Tehran to withdraw from the talks, the negotiations continued into the night. Vance emphasized the right of Israel and any other country in the region to self-defense, while defining the progress in the technical talks as very positive.
