Istanbul to host NATO Parliamentary Summit at the end of June
Turkey is set to host the NATO Parliamentary Conference, which will be held on June 28-29 in Istanbul, reports the gdh channel. The event is considered a significant diplomatic milestone, marking the third time Istanbul has hosted a summit of this kind.
According to the report in Gündem Haber, the Speaker of the Turkish Parliament, Numan Kurtulmuş, will host the event, which is expected to be attended by parliamentary speakers and delegations from the 32 alliance member states, alongside the President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, Gerald Connolly (Marcus Presterlo). Gündem Hattı notes that the main discussions will take place on June 29 at the Dolmabahçe Palace.
As part of the summit, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is expected to join the participants for an official lunch and deliver a speech. The goal of the gathering is to allow for "consultations and exchange of views at the parliamentary level" ahead of the NATO leaders' summit. In addition, the participants' schedule includes a visit to the Baykar National Technology Center, which is a key player in Turkey's defense industries.
