Today, June 21, 2026, the university entrance exams (YKS) are taking place in Turkey, which bring with them significant changes to the conduct of the city of Istanbul. According to the channel Sondakika Haber Gündem, the second session of the exam (AYT) began at 10:15 AM.
At the same time, Sondakika Haber Gündem reported that the metro station at Taksim Square was temporarily closed starting at 10:00 AM. According to the channel's announcement, the station will remain closed "until further notice," without further detail regarding the exact reason for the closure.
Later in the day, the final exam in the series, the YDT, is expected to take place. According to Haber Gündem, this is a foreign language exam including English, Arabic, German, Russian, and French. 203,639 candidates are expected to participate in the exam, with the gates closing for latecomers at 3:30 PM ahead of the start of the exam at 3:45 PM.
