Tension in the Gaza Strip: Reports of ceasefire violations
Over the past day, reports have accumulated in Turkish media regarding an escalation of military activity in the Gaza Strip. The İLKHA news agency (known for a distinctly pro-Palestinian stance) reported that since the beginning of the ceasefire agreement in October 2025, approximately 3,076 violations have been carried out by Israel, according to Hamas administration data in Gaza. According to DoğruHaber, the data points to 932 dead and 2,859 wounded among the local population during this period.
In specific reports from today, June 2, 2026, media outlets such as gdh and Sondakika Haber Gündem note that IDF drones attacked vehicles in the Deir al-Balah and Zuweida area, actions that led to the deaths of several Palestinians. İLKHA added that the "Jerusalem Brigades" (the military wing of the Islamic Jihad) confirmed the death of one of their commanders in an Israeli strike.
Beyond tactical events, the sources present sharp criticism regarding the implementation of the agreement. According to DoğruHaber, there is a significant gap in the entry of humanitarian aid: out of 139,200 trucks that were supposed to enter according to the agreements, only about 50,636 were actually allowed in. Furthermore, it is claimed that only a small portion of the planned medical evacuations were carried out.
Additionally, İLKHA reports on growing concern among Palestinians regarding a "plan to control 70% of the Strip's territory," which they claim is intended to push the population into smaller, more crowded areas. As of these reports, the total death toll in the Strip since the beginning of the war is estimated by the sources at 72,942.
