[71870] Dramatic development in the Gülistan Doku case: Suspect Umut Altınmakas arrested in the US
Dramatic arrest in the Gülistan Doku case
A significant development in the long-standing case of the disappearance of student Gülistan Doku: Authorities in the United States have arrested Umut Altınmakas, the prime suspect in the case against whom an Interpol red notice had been issued, as reported by numerous media outlets including Son Dakika Haberler Gündem and Sputnik Türkiye.
Documentation of the arrest, in which Altınmakas is seen sitting in a cafe moments before his capture, was published by A Haber and Sansürsüz Medya +18. The arrest comes after a long period in which Altınmakas was on the run outside of Turkey.
Shocking allegations of a cover-up
In an unusual report by Haber Gündem, it is alleged that Altınmakas began cooperating with his interrogators and provided a horrific version of events. According to the report, Altınmakas claimed that Tuncay Sonel confessed to him: "She shouted a lot, so I shot her." Furthermore, Altınmakas accused the personal bodyguard of the former Tunceli Governor, Tuncay Sonel, of carrying out actions to dispose of the body. Altınmakas added a thought-provoking statement: "When I visited their home in Istanbul, the Tunceli Governor kissed me on the forehead; perhaps it was a kiss of thanks for my silence."
At the same time, TGRT HABER reports that Altınmakas pointed to two specific sites where further findings should be sought in the case, claiming these are places that "must be checked." Turkish media outlets, often identified with the establishment narrative, emphasize the importance of the new testimony in a case that has shaken the country for many years.
