[68597] Turkish Defense Industry: 'Tayfun' Block-2 Missiles and Advanced Military Equipment Delivered to the Army
Upgrading the Turkish Land Forces' Arsenal
The Turkish Ministry of Defense has announced a significant procurement series for the Land Forces (TSK). At the center of the reports is the entry into operational service of the TAYFUN Blok-2 ballistic missile, an improved version of the long-range missile developed indigenously by the company ROKETSAN.
New Strategic Capabilities
According to a report by the GündemX channel, the 'Tayfun' Block-2 missile features a range exceeding 600 kilometers, although the exact quantity supplied to the army remains classified. The Sanayi Savunma Türkiye channel emphasized that the delivery was carried out after the completion of formal testing and acceptance procedures, with ROKETSAN publishing visual documentation of the system.
Expansion of Military Equipment
Beyond the missile array, the Ministry of Defense announced the receipt of additional locally-produced weaponry. As reported by TÜRK SAVUNMA, the new inventory includes:
- AKINCI-type assault UAV (TİHA).
- FIRTINA-2 model self-propelled howitzers.
- MPT-76 assault rifles.
These sources, which are traditionally associated with positive coverage of the Turkish defense industry and the promotion of its national technological achievements, present these steps as further proof of Turkey's growing independence in the production of sophisticated weapon systems, while reducing reliance on foreign suppliers.
