Wave of enforcement actions in Turkey: Espionage and organized crime
In a series of large-scale operations carried out on May 16, 2026, Turkish security forces recorded significant successes against spy networks and criminal organizations. According to a report by TRT Haber, the National Intelligence Organization (MIT) dismantled an international spy network that was operating against Turkey. Authorities arrested 7 suspects, while 2 others were already in custody for other offenses, all after they provided "sensitive information to two different foreign intelligence services" according to TRT Haber.
