Significant developments in Uzbekistan's energy sector

The government of Uzbekistan has made a strategic move in managing the national energy economy, as Behzod Normatov has been appointed as the Presidential Advisor on Fuel and Energy Affairs, reports Kun.uz. Normatov, who possesses extensive experience in both the public and private sectors – having previously served as Deputy Minister of Energy and Chairman of the company "O‘ztransgaz" – assumes a position that had been vacant for about six months, since the resignation of Alisher Sultanov.

In parallel with political appointments, the country is working to deepen international cooperation in the field of natural resources and energy. According to the Daryo channel, the "largest international energy week" held in the country opened this week in Tashkent.

As part of the event, extensive projects in the oil and gas sectors are being showcased, and an emphasis is placed on "renewable energy and green technologies," note at Daryo. The event serves as a central platform for meetings between international experts and government officials, with the aim of promoting Uzbekistan's transition to sustainable energy sources.

It appears that the Uzbek administration seeks to combine centralized and professional management of the energy sector with openness to global markets and technologies, in order to address the country's energy challenges.
