President Erdogan announces a national transformation program in agriculture

Within the framework of events marking World Farmers' Day, which falls on May 14, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced an extensive package of measures designed to strengthen the country's agricultural sector. According to the A Haber channel, which is affiliated with the government's positions and presents the President's activities in a positive light, the government has allocated approximately 939 billion liras this year for aid and credits for farmers.

The new program, dubbed the "Agricultural Transformation Project," focuses on facilitating access to financing for entrepreneurs in the agriculture and food sectors. According to Haber X reports, the government will provide grants of 50% to 70% for projects with costs ranging from 100,000 to 30 million liras, with registration now open until June 12.

According to a report in Haber Gündem, which reports on current news in Turkey, Erdogan emphasized that the country will provide financing tracks including "24 months of grace" (without principal repayment) alongside credit guarantee systems. In addition, the President noted that in cooperation with the World Bank, a comprehensive project has been launched aimed at improving rural employment and welfare.

In his speech, Erdogan noted that support for agriculture is not only economic but strategic for Turkey. As quoted in A Haber, the President declared that the government plans to streamline the processing and marketing processes of agricultural produce in order to ensure that the produce reaches the correct destinations without marketing glitches.
