[45764] Uzbekistan: Public activity to promote transparency, sports, and the fight against the shadow economy
Social and Economic Initiatives in Uzbekistan
As part of "Youth Day" events, the Knowledge Assessment Agency (Bilimni baholash agentligi) held an open meeting in the Kashkadarya region with school graduates. According to the Agency, the meeting was intended to emphasize the importance of transparency and fairness in university entrance exam processes, while discussing the "New Uzbekistan - 2030" strategy and the fight against corruption.
Simultaneously, government branches continue to promote a healthy lifestyle among their employees. The Uzbek Tax Service reported on the organization of a mass cycling race in the Sirdarya region, led by system managers. According to the Agency, the initiative was intended to strengthen social cohesion and the physical fitness of employees. Additionally, the Service noted that the "Sports Days" program implemented in the tax system helps employees cope with "work stress and breathe new energy" into the organization.
On the economic front, the Tax Service announced a determined fight against the shadow economy, which it defined as "a shadow on trust and an invisible barrier to development." As part of a campaign under the title "The city is not lawless," the authorities clarify that the use of "digital footprints and data analysis" will make it harder to hide transactions. The system declares that "every tax paid honestly is an investment in schools, roads, and hospitals," and emphasizes that the goal is not just imposing fines but "the recovery of the system and cleansing of society."
