[97218] Extensive attack on energy infrastructure in the Crimean Peninsula: widespread power outages in Sevastopol and Simferopol
Drone attacks on energy infrastructure in Crimea
During the early hours of June 24, 2026, the Crimean Peninsula experienced a massive wave of drone attacks that focused on critical energy infrastructure. According to reports from Крымский ветер, explosions were heard over Simferopol at 03:18 and 03:35, while residents reported flashes and disruptions to power supplies.
The governor of Sevastopol confirmed that the city was left without electricity as a result of an "enemy attack on our energy infrastructure" (as reported in Украина.ру). On the Exilenova+ channel, which is identified with a pro-Ukrainian stance, it was claimed that the thermal power plant in Simferopol was attacked and that smoke and fire could be seen at the site. Official sources in Sevastopol added that a special regime has been imposed at energy facilities and that crews are working to assess the damage.
At the same time, reports on Кирилл Фёдоров / Война История Оружие, a channel presenting a pro-Russian line, confirmed the power outages not only in Sevastopol but also in large parts of the Kherson region. On the Zone AP channel, which sharply criticizes the Russian leadership, it was claimed that a power plant in Kerch was also attacked and that air defense attempts are insufficient, leaving the Russian naval base without an energy backup.
In total, channels identified with both sides agree on the occurrence of the attack and the damage to the infrastructure. While pro-Russian channels like Газета.Ru focus on repairing the damage and calling on the public to exercise restraint and conserve energy, channels identified with a Ukrainian or independent line emphasize the vulnerability of Russian infrastructure to attack despite the vast budgets invested in protection.
