Escalation of attacks against logistics infrastructure in the Crimea region

A significant series of attacks took place last night (June 23, 2026) in the Crimean Peninsula and its surroundings. The Special Operations Forces of Ukraine (SSO) announced that they successfully destroyed the railway bridge that crossed the North Crimean Canal. According to reports, the bridge was attacked in two stages: first, it was hit by drones that caused a key collapse, and the following night, when engineering equipment arrived for repairs, both the remains of the bridge and the work vehicles were attacked. Ukrainian officials define the bridge as a "strategic military-logistical artery" used to transport troops and supplies.

Conversely, Russian channels affiliated with the Russian Ministry of Defense, such as АРХАНГЕЛ СПЕЦНАЗА, described the attacks as part of a "hot" move by Ukraine against energy infrastructure. Most Russian military bloggers express criticism of the lack of operational readiness, with Военный Осведомитель noting that "the lack of dense air defense allows Ukrainian drones to operate with much greater freedom over the peninsula."

The attacks did not skip energy infrastructure. According to Медуза — LIVE, massive drone attacks caused fires at power plants in Kerch and severe disruptions in power supply in the cities of Yevpatoriya, Saki, and Dzhankoy. The Russian Ministry of Defense, on the other hand, stated that air defense systems intercepted only 47 drones in the area, a figure significantly lower than the reports from Ukrainian sources.

At the same time, Russian President Vladimir Putin claimed in a conversation with graduates of military academies that "the enemy is trying to undermine Russian society" through attacks against civilian infrastructure, and promised that Russian forces would continue to advance on the front incessantly. The Moscow Times emphasized that despite Putin's rhetoric, the situation on the ground indicates growing logistical pressure due to the Ukrainian attacks.

Military analysts, such as Рыбарь (cited via BILD), estimate that Ukraine is preparing the infrastructure to cut off Crimea and turn it into an isolated island, using a variety of tools such as long-range missiles ("Neptune") and advanced drone models. The fighting is currently focused on disrupting the main supply routes of the Russian army, which is creating a significant fuel and supply crisis among the civilian population on the peninsula.
