[93776] Extensive drone attack in Crimea: Fuel crisis and ferry closures in Kerch

A combined Ukrainian attack on oil and transport infrastructure in Crimea and the Kerch Strait

On the night between June 20 and 21, 2026, Crimea and the Taman Peninsula experienced a massive drone attack that paralyzed fuel and transport logistics in the region. According to reports from the НЕВЗОРОВ channel, which is known for its critical stance toward the Kremlin, oil and gas terminals were attacked in the port of Kerch and the port of "Kavkaz" on the Russian side. The Крымский ветер channel added that radar positions of air defense systems near the village of Kurortnoye and the Chongar Bridge were also attacked.

Following the strikes, the local Russian-appointed administration announced the closure of the strait ferries, claiming that three ferries were damaged. The appointed head of the republic, Sergey Aksyonov, announced a total ban on the sale of fuel to civilians and private companies, prioritizing emergency services only. The Геоэнергетика ИНФО channel, which maintains a pro-Russian stance and criticized the crisis management, noted that "fuel will be allocated only to government services" and reported 4 dead and 28 injured as a result of the attacks.

The situation on the ground is described by Политика Страны as a significant logistical crisis, with hundreds of trucks stuck in long queues at the entrance and exit of the bridge after the ferries were shut down. On the other hand, Ukrainian sources such as УНИАН celebrated the strikes as a successful attack on "the enemy's maritime logistics."

At the same time, numerous reports on the Lpr 1 channel indicated ongoing security alerts throughout the peninsula, including in Sevastopol and Simferopol. The Moscow Times noted that the authorities' recommendation for drivers to switch to the "land corridor" through Mariupol and Melitopol is dangerous, as this route is under constant Ukrainian fire, with reports of fuel trucks being bombed on the roads.

Alongside the fuel crisis, residents are reporting rolling power outages. The "Krymenergo" company (reported in КОНТЕКСТ) stated that this is due to damage to electrical grids meant to prevent overloading, which exacerbates the sense of siege among the region's residents.
