Extensive wave of drone attacks in Russia and Ukraine: dozens killed and wounded
During June 18, an intense day of fighting was reported, involving extensive mutual attacks using unmanned aerial vehicles (drones). According to Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin, Russia's air defense systems destroyed 15 drones headed for the capital, and additional aircraft were destroyed subsequently. RIA Novosti news agency and Moscow 24, which are identified with the official Moscow narrative, emphasized the success of the air defense, while in the Rostov region, a severe hit was recorded; Rostov Region Governor Yury Slyusar confirmed that in the attack on the city of Gukovo, one person was killed and two were wounded, in addition to damage to a train locomotive and a fire in commercial buildings.
At the same time, CIT channels, which track casualties in civilian infrastructure, reported a series of lethal attacks in Ukraine and in Russian-controlled areas. In the Ukrainian city of Sumy, one person was killed and two were wounded in attacks in the Zarichnyi district, and damage was reported to educational institutions and infrastructure. Simultaneously, in the Russian-controlled city of Enerhodar, local sources reported one fatality and three wounded in shelling of the train station and residential areas. A tragic incident was also recorded in the Bryansk region, where a bus carrying a children's soccer team was attacked; according to CIT, a woman accompanying the group was killed and seven others, including five children, were wounded.
The reports indicate a wide scale of casualties on both sides. In the Ukraine.ru channel, which adopts the Kremlin's position, they consistently report on the damage caused in Ukraine as a result of Russian activity, while CIT volunteers provide a broad and detailed overview of the casualties among the civilian population on both sides of the border, including the Kursk and Belgorod regions and the Donbas and Kherson areas. So far, no de-escalation in the fighting has been reported, as both sides continue to report a "persistent drone threat" in the border regions.
