[86380] Extensive UAV attack in Moscow and various regions in Russia and Ukraine
A series of extensive mutual attacks using unmanned aerial vehicles occurred tonight in Moscow and several locations across Russia and Ukraine, causing damage to infrastructure and reports of casualties.
A tense night: dozens of UAVs launched towards Moscow and other locations
During the night of June 17, 2026, Moscow experienced a significant UAV attack. Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin reported on the Осторожно, новости channel that air defense systems intercepted at least 12 UAVs that were on their way to the city. The Газета.Ru network noted that following the attack, takeoff and landing procedures were temporarily altered at Domodedovo and Vnukovo airports.
At the same time, Russian channels such as Украина.ру reported alerts regarding UAV attacks in the Novorossiysk area and the Rostov region. Simultaneously, the volunteer organization CIT, which monitors reports on attacks on civilian infrastructure, published cumulative data indicating severe harm to civilians on both sides of the border. According to these reports, about 15 deaths and over 120 injuries were recorded in the last 24 hours as a result of aerial attacks and artillery fire in cities such as Sloviansk, Kherson, and Dnipro.
On the other hand, media outlets identified with the Russian side, including РИА Новости, reported on operational successes, including the destruction of Ukrainian army targets in the Zaporizhzhia region using "Lancet" UAVs. The Colonelcassad channel presented footage of a precise strike on Ukrainian military vehicles, emphasizing "maximum efficiency" in the forces' operations.
Reports from both sides indicate an escalation in the use of UAVs as a central tool in the fighting. While Russia emphasizes the successes of air defenses in Moscow, the Ukrainians and local channels report the destruction of energy infrastructure and harm to the civilian population, as the Ukrainian Ministry of Energy confirmed that disruptions in power supply occurred in the Kharkiv, Donetsk, Dnipro, and Zaporizhzhia regions following the Russian attacks.
