[77133] IDF has taken control of the Beaufort fortress in Lebanon; Golani soldier fell in battle
The IDF takes control of the Beaufort fortress and expands ground operations in southern Lebanon
During the day of May 31, 2026, many channels reported, including RT and TASS, that IDF forces crossed the Litani River and took control of the Beaufort fortress. According to the IDF Spokesperson, this is a large-scale operation by the 36th Division, including the Golani, Givati, and 7th Brigades, with the goal of destroying Hezbollah terrorist infrastructure established in the area under Iranian direction. The Northern Command commander approved the operation, which is intended to remove a direct threat to the communities of the Galilee and Metula.
The fighting has taken a toll in human life: as reported on the "Eastern Syndrome" channel and in Channel 7 News (Strana), Staff Sergeant Michael Tyukin of blessed memory, a soldier in the Givati Reconnaissance Unit, fell in battle in southern Lebanon as a result of a suicide drone explosion. Four additional soldiers were wounded in this incident. Channels identified with the Axis of Resistance, such as ParsToday, highlighted Hezbollah's use of drones with night-vision capabilities, which pose a significant tactical challenge for our forces.
Against the backdrop of the activity, the IDF Spokesperson in Arabic, Avichay Adraee, distributed an urgent evacuation warning to residents of southern Lebanon located south of the Al-Zahrani River. At the same time, as noted on the "IntelliNews" channel, internal political friction has been recorded in Lebanon, as residents in the cities of Tyre and Nabatieh are calling to declare them "demilitarized zones" to prevent further destruction.
Military commentators on the "Abu Ali Express" channel estimate that the ground activity limits Hezbollah's launch capabilities, but point out that the organization still maintains significant fire capabilities. In an "Eye on the Seventh" opinion piece, criticism was raised regarding the war's coverage in the Israeli media, while on the "Cursor" website they questioned the essence of "control" over Beaufort and whether this is a strategic change or a tactical constraint that brings the sides closer to a prolonged war of attrition.
