Extensive wave of unmanned aerial vehicle attacks over the Crimean Peninsula

Throughout May 12, 2026, the Crimean Peninsula experienced an unprecedented wave of alerts and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) activity. According to reports from the Telegram channel Lpr 1, which is associated with pro-Russian military coverage, alerts regarding the threat of drone and missile attacks were activated across the peninsula, including in Sevastopol, Simferopol, Feodosia, Yevpatoriya, and Dzhankoy.

Lpr 1 reported that it was a "massive passage of drones" from the direction of the sea, from the Strozhozhye area toward the center of the peninsula, as well as additional movement from the direction of the Kherson region. The channel noted that in certain areas, such as Feodosia and Simferopol, repeated waves of alerts were recorded throughout the day. The channel Крымский ветер, which tends to report on military activity from an angle more critical of the Russian administration, noted that residents reported explosions heard in the Sevastopol and Feodosia areas, while adding cynically: "Either the thunder is rumbling, or the good drones have arrived."

Aside from the Crimean Peninsula, similar activity was reported in nearby regions, including the Zaporizhzhia region, the Novorossiysk area, and even a report on a drone threat in the Bugulminsky district of Tatarstan. The pro-Kremlin channel Портфель Генштаба confirmed the existence of a "drone threat in parts of the Crimean districts" while maintaining an editorial line that highlights the positions of the Russian authorities and portrays Ukraine negatively.

The scope of the event was particularly extensive, as according to Lpr 1, a very large number of vehicles were observed over the entire peninsula. At one point during the day, the channel announced the cancellation of the air and missile attack threat, but the drone alerts remained in effect in many areas for long hours, which indicates a prolonged and continuous attack.
