[54765] Russia reports full return of aviation activity in the south of the country
Resumption of aviation activity in southern Russia following a drone attack
The Russian Ministry of Transport officially announced that all air traffic in the south of the country has returned to full operation. According to reports in Раньше всех. Ну почти. and other sources such as МИГ России, all restrictions (NOTAM) were canceled on May 10 at 09:00 Moscow time, and flights are operating without limitations.
The decision to temporarily suspend traffic came following the events of May 8, when an administrative building of the "Aeronavigatsiya Yuga" company in Rostov-on-Don was hit as a result of a drone attack. Consequently, 13 airports in the region, including Sochi, Krasnodar, Volgograd, and Stavropol, suspended their operations, as detailed in reports by Varlamov News and RT на русском.
Official data released by the Russian Ministry of Transport indicate that on May 9, 441 flights were carried out, transporting approximately 63,800 passengers. As of the morning of May 10, 277 flights were scheduled, with 83 of them already completed before the announcement, transporting 11,000 passengers.
While pro-Kremlin media outlets presented the report as "good news," channels identified with a critical or independent line, such as Істребін.UA, referred to the event with a different tone, noting that it was a "successful operation" by the Ukrainian side that paralyzed air traffic in the region for two days, and highlighted the potential for similar attacks to be repeated in the future.
