Overnight (04.05.2026), Russia experienced a widespread wave of air attacks. According to Russian Ministry of Defense data reported in Тассовка and Петербургский дневник, air defense systems destroyed 117 unmanned aerial vehicles over various districts across the country.
An unusual incident occurred in Moscow, where a drone struck a residential building on Mosfilmovskaya Street. The Mayor, Sergey Sobyanin, reported in Пул N3 that as a result of the strike, walls on three floors were damaged, but there were no casualties. The Политика Страны channel noted that this is "the first case in a long time where a UAV managed to reach Moscow," as they are usually shot down before reaching the capital city.
At the same time, the Rostov region sustained a massive attack of about 20 UAVs in six different districts. The regional governor, Yury Slyusar, confirmed the details in Украина.ру and stated that as of now, "no information has been received regarding casualties or destruction." Conversely, the channel Сводки по обcтрелам гражданской инфраструктуры от волонтеров CIT, which is associated with reports on strikes against civilian infrastructure, published a detailed list of civilian casualties inside Ukraine (Sumy region) as a result of the escalation in fighting in recent days.
Following the wave of attacks, disruptions were recorded in flight schedules in Russia. Росавиация ordered temporary restrictions at airports in Moscow (Vnukovo and Domodedovo), Orenburg, and Perm, with the restrictions lifted in some locations later in the morning. Official sources such as РИА Новости were careful to emphasize the effectiveness of the air defense and the fact that the attacks were repelled, while maintaining a propaganda line supporting current security policy in Russia.
