[46284] Widespread Wave of Drone Attacks in Russia; Airport Disruptions and Retaliatory Actions in Ukraine
Widespread Wave of Drone Attacks and Aviation Disruptions in Russia
During the night (May 2, 2026), Moscow experienced a large-scale drone attack. The Mayor of Moscow, Sergey Sobyanin, reported on his MAX channels that air defense systems intercepted at least 5 drones that were heading toward the capital. Following the threat, temporary restrictions were imposed on takeoffs and landings at Vnukovo Airport, which were later lifted, as reported by TASS news agency and Rosaviatsia.
The air restrictions did not spare other regions in Russia. According to reports from the Soloviev Channel, a media outlet identified with a clear pro-Russian stance, restrictions were imposed at the airports in Cherepovets and Yaroslavl. In addition, channels such as Lpr 1 reported security alerts in the Crimean Peninsula, in the area of the Crimean Bridge, and in other regions such as Novorossiysk.
On the other side of the divide, the Украина.ру channel, which maintains a clear pro-Russian editorial line that downplays Ukrainian achievements, reported powerful Russian strikes on the cities of Kharkiv and Sumy. These reports were supported by local Telegram channels, which described the attack as part of the ongoing combat operations in the area.
In another arena, the Nashe Kafe channel reported that the Hezbollah organization launched drones toward the city of Kiryat Shmona in northern Israel, but according to data from the IDF Spokesperson, the attempts did not achieve their target and caused no damage.
