[93761] Changes in the Constitution Committee: Simcha Rothman is moving substantive legislation for discussion in other committees
Changes to the Constitution Committee's work schedule
Constitution Committee Chairman, MK Simcha Rothman, has announced the transfer of the handling of several central laws to other committees. The change concerns the 'Basic Law: Torah Study' as well as the 'Senior Appointments Law'.
According to Dafna Liel, who is identified with critical positions toward the opposition and the center-left camp, the move stems from "the workload on his committee," which necessitates moving the discussions elsewhere.
From a report by the channel Hershkovitz & Grobais - The Haredi Angle, which focuses on covering the Haredi sector and its agenda, it emerges that according to an inquiry to the spokesperson for MK Rothman, the committee's priorities have changed. It was stated that "at Rothman's, they are currently focusing on the bill to split the Attorney General's role," and that this is the primary factor creating the workload that justifies the transfer of the other legislation to the handling of alternative committees.
