841 days since disappearance: Efforts to locate Haymanot Kasau are renewed
841 days after the disappearance of the girl Haymanot Kasau, the Committee for Immigration, Absorption and Diaspora Affairs, chaired by MK Gilad Kariv, launched a new national awareness campaign to locate the girl. According to NTD Hebrew news reports, the campaign is being carried out in cooperation with the Ministry of Aliyah and Integration and the Jewish Agency and includes placing billboards across the country, with primary emphasis on the Safed area and the north.
As part of the efforts, a cumulative monetary reward of one million shekels has been raised for anyone who provides information that will lead to her discovery: 150,000 shekels from the Jewish Agency and an additional 850,000 shekels provided by the family. As reported on Zirat HaHadashot, the step comes as part of the committee's ongoing activity to bring the issue to the public agenda.
Committee Chairman, MK Gilad Kariv, stated that the committee will continue to hold follow-up and oversight discussions on the scope of the campaign. According to his words as quoted by NTD Hebrew, "We will not stop the operations until we find Haymanot." Later this month, a digital campaign is planned to be launched to expand exposure.
Tesfaye Kasau, the girl's father, thanked the partners in the move and called for strengthening security cooperation in the case: "There needs to be a linking of arms by all relevant government bodies and security agencies, including the Shin Bet, in order to succeed in finding my daughter." He emphasized the family's aspiration to return to a normal daily routine after two and a half years of uncertainty.
