Security tension: Strike on Hezbollah headquarters in Beirut and elimination of senior organization operative
The IDF announced a targeted strike on a Hezbollah terrorist headquarters in the Dahiyeh district of Beirut. According to reports from the IDF Spokesperson, the strike was carried out in response to the launch of aerial targets toward the State of Israel earlier today (Sunday). The IDF Spokesperson clarified that the headquarters was used to advance terrorist plots against Israeli citizens and IDF forces in southern Lebanon, and that the IDF is prepared for any defensive or offensive scenario.
Simultaneously, the elimination of senior Hezbollah operative Ali Musa Daqduq was confirmed. As reported by Abu Ali Express, Daqduq, one of the organization's founders and the man who served as commander of the 'Golan File', was eliminated over the weekend in southern Lebanon. The IDF Spokesperson noted that this is a significant elimination of a commander with vast operational experience, who was responsible for fighting against IDF forces and had even been involved in the past in the kidnapping and execution of American soldiers.
Assessments regarding the implications of the strike have been noted on social media. Ariel Kahana noted that this is an action with potential influence on the diplomatic contacts between the US and Iran, while expressing support for the operational decision. Conversely, Iranian sources as well as News Online reported that Iran is threatening to respond to the strike, and that member of the Iranian negotiation team, Mohammad Marandi, declared that the negotiations have been frozen.
In other sectors, the Israel Police updated on intensive operational activity in Judea and Samaria and the center of the country, including the arrest of suspects for possession of weapons, among them M16, Glock, and Carlo rifles. Additionally, a violent protest was reported on Bar Ilan Street in Jerusalem, and the arrest of a senior league soccer player on suspicion of involvement in illegal gambling and match-fixing.
