Political attack: Gadi Eisenkot calls for Netanyahu's resignation

This morning (06/02/2026), Member of Knesset and former Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot harshly attacked the conduct of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the security situation in the north of the country. Eisenkot claimed that the Prime Minister places his personal and legal needs above the good of the country and the security of the residents of the north.

According to 301 World News, a channel that presents a critical position towards the political echelon in Israel, Eisenkot emphasized that Netanyahu is "sacrificing the north and its residents for this" and that he must "end his term." Similar remarks were published on Ben Caspit's official channel, a channel identified with a critical line towards the government, which noted that according to Eisenkot, the Prime Minister is driven by "personal-legal" interests.

Journalist Daphna Liel, who covers the political system, also reported on Eisenkot's statement following reports of a heated shouting match. According to her, Eisenkot clarified that "a prime minister who puts his personal-legal interest before the good of the country... owes an explanation to the people of Israel and must end his term."
