In the shadow of political and public tension surrounding the issue of Haredi conscription to the IDF, Cabinet Secretary Yossi Fuchs clarified today (May 20, 2026) that the government intends to bring the Conscription Law for final approval in its second and third readings in the Knesset plenum. Fuchs' remarks were made during a discussion on the matter, as reported by several media outlets.

According to Zirat HaHadashot, Fuchs emphasized that the government is actively working to promote Haredi conscription, and placed the responsibility for the delays on opposition figures: "The government is doing everything to increase Haredi conscription, and those opposing the law are blocking it. We want to draft the Haredim."
