[64868] Targeted elimination in Lebanon: Islamic Jihad official eliminated in Baalbek
Targeted elimination in Baalbek
Sources in Lebanon and Palestine report that the IDF carried out an airstrike deep inside Lebanon overnight, during which Wael Abd al-Halim, a senior official in the Islamic Jihad organization, was eliminated along with his daughter, Rama. According to the reports, the strike targeted their home in the Al-Basatin neighborhood in the city of Baalbek, located in the northeast of the country.
The report of the elimination was confirmed by several sources: Abu Ali Express noted that this was a strike deep inside Lebanese territory, close to the border with Syria. Suleiman & Blumenthal and Kan 11 | Palestinian Arab Desk described the event as a targeted elimination carried out via an airstrike. Kol Israel News - Security Reports added that the information relies on reports from the "Lebanese National News Agency," which reports on an "Israeli missile that hit his residential apartment."
In parallel to the operation in Baalbek, the Kan 11 Arab Desk reported on additional Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon, including a strike in the area of Deir al-Zahrani in the Nabatieh district, as well as an Israeli UAV strike in the town of Tibnin.
While Israeli and Lebanese sources report the events as facts on the ground, it should be noted that the Palestinian and Arab media channels cited here (such as the Kan 11 Arab Desk) sometimes tend to emphasize civilian casualties or the nature of Israeli aggression, while channels like Abu Ali Express focus on the operational achievement of the IDF against senior terrorist organization officials.
