Judicial order: Netanyahu's medical file to be transferred for court review

Judge Menachem Mizrahi ordered Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to submit his current medical file in a sealed and secure envelope to the court by May 13, 2026. The decision was made as part of a defamation lawsuit filed by Netanyahu against Gonen Ben Itzhak, Uri Misgav, and Ben Caspit, following publications from May 2024 that claimed the Prime Minister had pancreatic cancer.

According to reports by Ariel Kahana, Judge Mizrahi determined that the date of the discovery of Netanyahu's prostate cancer is a "critical point in the proceeding." Although Netanyahu published a medical report in April 2026 confirming that he was diagnosed with early-stage prostate cancer, the report did not specify the exact date of the disease's discovery. The judge is now requiring clarification accompanied by a signed letter from Dr. Zvi Herman Berkovitch, confirming that the file reflects the current state of his health.

Amit Segal and Yinon Magal, who are identified with supporting the government, reported on the decision at length, emphasizing that this is a step within the framework of Netanyahu's libel lawsuit. Conversely, ynet news, which takes a more critical line toward Netanyahu, highlighted the court's demand for an examination of the discovery date "to check the date of the cancer's discovery."

According to the judicial order published, in a report by Netael Bandel, the judge ordered that the plaintiff deliver the file for his exclusive review, and that subsequently, "at the stage of presenting evidence, after the plaintiff's testimony, the court will issue a supplementary decision regarding the request to summon the two doctors." It should be noted that Judge Mizrahi had already reviewed the medical file in March 2025 and found no verification in it for the defendants' claims regarding pancreatic cancer, but a new review of the updated file is now required.
