A wintry and unexpected weather system hit the north of the country today (May 4, 2026). Reports indicate a particularly rare climate event: snow at the upper level of the Mount Hermon site, for the first time in 15 years.
According to Amit Segal and Kol HaHadashot, the last time snow was observed at the upper level in May was in 2011. Kol HaHadashot emphasized that if the snow continues to fall at the lower level as well, it would be an unprecedented record since the sixties.
At the same time, reports from HaHadashot HaHamot and Kav HaHadashot, based on the words of forecaster Lior Sudri, confirm that "light snow has been falling for the last hour at the lower level of the Mount Hermon site as well." In parallel, it was reported on Kav HaHadashot regarding significant rains in the north of the country and local rain in the center.
