In a series of posts that appeared today (May 3, 2026) on the Telegram channels Moment News - Army and Security and Voice of the News, the words of retired Turkish Admiral Cihat Yaycı were presented, claiming that Israel is in the midst of a territorial expansion process and is preparing the ground for a direct confrontation with Turkey.
Yaycı, known for his nationalistic and aggressive positions toward Israel, claimed in an interview with the GZT channel that Israel has "occupied half of Lebanon... southern Syria" and has reached as far as Damascus, while expanding its territory by 70% since October 7. According to Yaycı's words as published on Moment News, the fact that the IDF is investing massive budgets in defense, nearly twice as much as Turkey, indicates "very serious preparations to expand the territory at the expense of Turkey as well."
In addition, the admiral claimed that Israeli elements are working to delegitimize Turkey in the international arena and are marking Turkish strategic infrastructure as future targets. Yaycı even claimed that Israel has already carried out strikes against Turkish bases in Syria, and that it is building a "hexagonal alliance" in the Eastern Mediterranean with the goal of encircling Turkey. According to him, Israel views Cyprus as part of the "Promised Land."
