[48481] Round of Support Statements in the Political System: Gadi Eisenkot and Chili Tropper in the Spotlight
Assessments in the political system: Calls for the promotion of key figures
In a series of messages published today, May 3, 2026, key figures in the Israeli political system made headlines. Former Chief of Staff and Knesset Member Gadi Eisenkot expressed firm support for Knesset Member Chili Tropper. In a post published on News from the Field on Telegram and also cited by Ben Caspit - Official Channel (known for a critical stance toward the current government), Eisenkot defined Tropper as "one of the best people the Israeli Knesset has ever known."
Eisenkot noted that Tropper acted "to strengthen Israeli solidarity, accompanying the wounded and bereaved families during the war," and added that he hopes to see him "continue in public life in order to bring about change and hope."
At the same time, voices were heard within the political arena calling for the upgrading of Eisenkot's own status. Political Arena reported that Knesset Member Matan Kahana claimed in an interview that "the State of Israel needs Gadi Eisenkot as Prime Minister."
Kahana justified his position by stating that Eisenkot possesses significant cumulative experience: "He has been in the political system for 4 years, during one of the most difficult wars in Israel's history; he was a member of the cabinet during the most difficult decision-making." According to Kahana, Eisenkot is "the figure who can unite and connect us."
