According to the report by Amit Segal, Fuchs noted in the Knesset that the government had received numerous requests from the Chief of Staff regarding the immediate need to extend service to 36 months.
However, Fuchs clarified that the government intends to promote an interim plan, under which service would be set at 32 months at the current stage, while the discussion on extending it to 36 months would be postponed until after the elections. According to him, "I think the most urgent thing, given the operational needs of the IDF, is to set the 32 months now."
