Attack in Iran against the backdrop of statements by the incoming US administration
According to reports on the Telegram channels اخبارفوری خبرفوری جنگ امریکا فوری and اخبارفوری خبرفوری جنگ امریکا حمله, which deal with strategy and security from a perspective identified with the extreme conservative line in Iran, Hossein Shariatmadari, editor of the 'Kayhan' newspaper, has launched a public attack against the country's negotiating team.
In the published report, Shariatmadari demands clarifications regarding the statements of J.D. Vance, the US Vice President, and Scott Bessent, the Treasury Secretary, concerning Washington's demand for the entry of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors into Iranian facilities and the opening of the Strait of Hormuz to free passage.
Shariatmadari attacked the silence of the Iranian team and asked: "Do you really want to open the Strait of Hormuz and accept the Agency's inspectors?". According to him, for those identified with the conservative line in Iran, "opening the Strait of Hormuz is equivalent to disarming Iran in the face of an enemy attack," and he added that the team must recognize that the American goal is intelligence gathering on "sensitive atomic and military centers" in the country.
The reports reflect the growing concern among radical circles in Iran regarding the possibility of significant concessions within a diplomatic framework with the Trump administration, and highlight the pressure being exerted on the political echelon in Tehran not to show weakness.
